ROME

The capital of Italy is the fourth most visited city in Europe. It's a city full of history, art and also shops, markets and parks.

Places to visit

The Colosseum
The Colosseum is the largest amphitheatre ever built, and it's in the centre of Rome. It's the major tourist attraction in Rome with thousands of tourists each year.

The Vatican
The Vatican is definetly a must-see. There you can see St Peter's Basilica, la Pieta, the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museums...

Roman Forum
The ruins there are not to be missed. The Roman Forum offers incredible sights. It's a wonderful historical area.

Pantheon
This is a beautiful building, with quite a lot to see, with architectural details. There are beautiful altars and niches to see. It's definetly a must-see.

Piazza Navona
This is another of the beautiful spots in Rome. It's full of life and entertainment.

Pompeii
This is a good idea for a day trip outside Rome. It's about 200km far and it's near Naples.

Trevi Fountain
It's a beautiful fountain in the centre of the city. It's usually very crowded because a lot of people want to make a wish by throwing a coin into the fountain.

Trastevere
Trastevere is a nieghbourhood full of alleyways, lovely restaurants and cafes and a lot of churches. It's a great place to wander.

Food

The food in italy is, for my taste, really good. Apart from pasta they also have kind of vegetables.

Weather

The weather in Rome is mostly hot, so if you go there in summer, you had better take sunglasses, sun-cream and keep hydrated.
